BELL Core Assesment [LO-1]:
When I was able to study abroad in Rome last May, I was also able to complete my third-year writing BELL Core experience. This course was unique in that it wasn't taught on the trip, but it was online during it and throughout the rest of the summer, and was only for students on abroad experiences. I am someone why typically does not enjoy writing or these types of courses, but this class was a turning point for me. It was set up in a way for each of us to reflect on the time we were spending immersed in a new culture, allowing me to live more in the moment and really take in this once in a lifetime experience. Throughout the course we had many writing assignments related to what we were learning in the other courses on our trips, really engaging the interdisciplinary aspects of Belmont's curriculum. For my argumentative essay, I wrote about some historical architecture I was able to see during my travels and how they have influenced newer architectural design. For this I found myself using the knowledge I gained from my study abroad trip along with the architectural history courses I had taken prior. Click the button below to read more!
