PROGRAM:
Students are to develop thoughtful and contextual approaches for the adaptive reuse of the former Frosty Morn Meatpacking Plant. Located in the Red River District of Clarksville, TN, the building is situated in an area that has high unemployment, poverty, and minority rates. There is a lack of basic retail close by and a general lack of investment to the area resulting in a decline of the surrounding neighborhoods. Through a deep analysis of the neighborhood's history and regional historic typologies in relationship to building form and planning, students are challenged to consider how to solve contemporary urban and residential problems within social, cultural, economic, and political contexts.
